Scouting Continues to Grow at Queen of Angels

Cub Scout Pack 3894 and Boy Scout Troop 894 want to thank the Queen of Angels community for providing its feedback on family scouting. An overwhelming majority was in favor of girls being let into our programs led by the Boy Scouts of America (BSA), and Father Jim has blessed this decision. Although the BSA has had co-ed programs for many years, bringing girls into their main programs is in line with the rest of the world, where Scouting has been co-ed for decades (except in Saudi Arabia). It is important to mention that Girls Scouts at Queen of Angels is not being replaced. Girl Scouts of the USA is a separate organization completely from the BSA, although we often work together. In fact, girls of our community will have the choice of joining the Girl Scout program or the BSA program…or both!

Starting this fall, girls will be eligible to form an all-girl den as part of Pack 3894. If you want more information, please contact Cubmaster Charles Marsh at bsapack3894@gmail.com. As of February 2019, the traditional Boy Scout program will be renamed Scouts USA, and girls ages 11-17 will be able to form their own all-girl Troop. Those interested in learning more about starting an all-girl Troop at Queen of Angels should contact Lyzette Austen at NewTroopAtQueens@gmail.com.

Finally, the Cub Scout program will be expanding to include Kindergartners starting fall of 2018.

Thank you for supporting all our Scouting programs here at Queen of Angels!
